Routine checks & detailed inspections
Routine fire-door checks and detailed inspections serve different purposes. The appropriate scope depends on the building, the doors involved and the level of assessment required. Frequently asked questions
How many doors do you inspect?
The number is agreed before the visit. It may cover every fire door in the building or a defined sample, depending on the purpose of the inspection.
Is this the same as a fire risk assessment?
No. A fire risk assessment considers the premises as a whole. A fire door inspection examines the condition and operation of the doors themselves and records each one individually.
Do you need access to flat entrance doors?
Inspecting a flat entrance door requires access arranged with the resident. Where access is not available, the door is recorded as not inspected, and the attempt is noted so you have a record of the steps taken.
Do you repair the defects you find?
The inspection and report are the deliverable. Where remedial work is needed, such as adjusting closers, replacing seals or repairing doors, we can undertake or arrange it, quoted separately from the inspection. You are not obliged to use us for it.
How is the report presented?
Each door is listed with its location and reference, the defects identified and the recommended action, so the schedule can be worked through and priced.
Can the inspection be carried out in occupied buildings?
Yes. Communal doors are inspected without disruption to residents. Doors within occupied units are inspected by arrangement.
